Are you on holiday in Vannes, a local resident, or just passing through the area? Looking to rent a kayak or paddleboard near Vannes in the Gulf of Morbihan? You’re in the right place!
At the Varec’h Kayak base, we welcome you from April through October by reservation — and even during the off-season depending on weather conditions. Whether you’re after single-seat kayaks, tandem kayaks, or stand-up paddleboards, there’s something for everyone.
Rental Options
We offer kayak rentals (single or tandem) typically for 2 hours or 3 hours, and longer rentals (4h or 6h) are possible depending on your experience and tide/weather conditions.
For stand-up paddleboarding, you can rent for 1h, 2h, or 3h. Our paddles (≥10’6″) are ideal for both fun and casual touring.
Prices can be found on our dedicated rates page.

How Our Rentals Work 👇
Before departure, we equip you with a life jacket and a paddle, and provide a quick briefing on the basics of paddling — perfect whether you’re a beginner or an expert. There is always something to learn
We’ll also point you to the best area to explore and the ideal route based on the tides and wind.
The designated zone is sheltered from currents and great for family outings — and yes, you’ll be in full control of your craft! The area is perfect for avoiding unnecessary danger.
This area offers more than 10 km of navigation, passing by two historic tidal mills (Pomper and Paluden), the port of Pen er Men, and Irus Island. By the way, if you have a substantial budget and want to rent the island, follow this link 😊
You’re free to explore at your pace and soak up the beauty of the scenery — wildlife, flora, and all!
For food lovers, it’s even possible to stop at an oyster bar and enjoy a tasting right by the water.
The navigation area can be extended, depending on your experience and conditions — some head toward Arradon, the Logoden Islands, or even Île d’Arz.

How to Get to the Base?

P.S.: The coastal path is quite nice!
🚴If you’d like to work your legs too, you can also come by bike by planning your route on Géovélo. You can leave your belongings inside the base during your ride.
